Martijn Krijgsheld

Martijn is a cinematographer and colourist based in The Netherlands. Working across fiction, documentaries, commercials and music videos. His work has been selected and awarded at film festivals, which sounds serious for someone who still thinks lemonade is an acceptable camera department requirement.

He is drawn to intimate moments, silence, tension, awkwardness and honesty. Natural light and contrast shape a lot of how he sees a scene, not just in the image, but in the emotion too. Sometimes the best thing a camera can do is stay still and watch.

He works closely with directors, crews and anyone patient enough to care about the details. His work is driven by collaboration, instinct and the slightly unreasonable belief that moving a light three centimetres can change everything. Annoyingly, he is sometimes right.
